Here's the decoder.

Six patterns, six messages

Roll your scooter to good light, look at each tire straight-on and from the side, and match what you see:

READS: too much air — or just miles
Scooters ride upright, so centers wear first naturally. But a center going bald fast usually means overinflation — the tire rides on its crown.
THE FIX → Check pressure against the sidewall number and bleed down to spec. Never inflate past the printed max.

THE FIX → If it's dramatic: loosen and re-seat the wheel square in its mount, and check the axle hardware is tight. Hardware first, habits second.

Locked-wheel stops grind one spot flat. One panic stop happens to everyone; repeat flat spots mean the brake bites harder than you can modulate.
THE FIX → Soften the brake bite (lever adjuster or app setting) and practice progressive squeezes. If the patch thumps at speed, replace the tire.

Cupping means the wheel is bouncing instead of rolling — tired suspension or loose bearings, not a tire problem. The tire is the witness, not the culprit.
THE FIX → Grab the wheel and rock it: play = bearings. Push the deck down: slow rebound = suspension. Fix that part — the next tire wears even.

Cracks in the sidewall or tread base
READS: age, sun, and dry air
Time kills tires that miles never touched. Rubber dries out, especially stored in sun or heat, and cracked rubber fails without warning.
THE FIX → Replace on cracks, regardless of tread left — and store the scooter out of direct sun to slow the clock on the next set.
Most tires show two patterns at once — a worn center AND cracks, say. Read them separately; fix them separately.

The one signal that means "done today"

Cords, canvas, or a bulge = stop riding

If you can see threads, mesh, or fabric anywhere through the rubber, the tire's structure is exposed and it can let go at speed — that's a replace-it-today signal, not a squeeze-one-more-week situation. Same for any bulge or bubble in the sidewall. Riders post photos of tires ridden down to the cords like trophies; the physics doesn't award points for it. A worn tire in the rain is the same story with less warning.

How long do scooter tires actually last?

When to replace — and the pressure rule

You've seen the patterns — here's the decision. Any one of these alone means new tire:
